The short answer

The nine games at a glance

SUPERHOT and Post Void occupy opposite ends of the time clock: in SUPERHOT, time moves only when you move so every room is a lethal puzzle; in Post Void, the liquid in the idol in your left hand drains every second unless you sprint forward and score headshots. Yet players who love one almost always love the other, because both strip the first person shooter down to pure, sixty second room clearing intensity with zero filler and instant restarts. That same sixty second arcade rush is why I built a zero install browser mode called 60 Seconds of War (/play/) for my 1930s cartoon shooter Iron Curtain Call alongside its full Steam demo.

If you want the draining timer rush of Post Void ($2.99) expanded into a full campaign with boss fights and upgrades, play MULLET MADJACK ($19.99, free demo on Steam) and Anger Foot ($19.99, free demo on Steam). If you want the tactical bullet time and puzzle like room choreography of SUPERHOT ($24.99), play Severed Steel ($24.99, free demo), Neon White ($24.99) and Warstride Challenges ($19.99, free demo). And if you want a 1930s rubber hose cartoon shooter you can test in 60 seconds right now in your browser or across a full chapter on Steam, try Iron Curtain Call (releasing 11 March 2027).

Each game, how it handles time pressure and what it shares with SUPERHOT and Post Void

Each card covers how the clock and room loop work, what it shares with SUPERHOT and Post Void, and its verified US Steam store facts on 8 November 2026.

Iron Curtain Call

My game

Play it if you want a 1930s cartoon shooter with a free 60 second browser mode and a full Steam demo.

When I built Iron Curtain Call, I wanted players to feel the whole combat loop in a single minute before downloading anything. That became 60 Seconds of War (/play/), a free one minute arena trial right in your desktop browser where you dash, punch and shoot wind up tin soldiers against the clock. Once you want the full story stages, bosses and weapons, Mission 1 is free on Steam for Windows, macOS and Linux ahead of the 11 March 2027 launch.

SUPERHOT

Play it if you want the iconic shooter where time moves only when you move.

SUPERHOT Team’s SUPERHOT (25 February 2016, $24.99, native on Windows, macOS and Linux) turns a chaotic firefight into a martial arts chess match. You sidestep red bullet trails in slow motion, snatch a pistol out of a shattered glass enemy’s hand in mid air, and hurl an empty bottle to stun the next gunman across the room.

Post Void

Play it if you want a blisteringly fast corridor shooter for the price of a coffee.

YCJY Games’ Post Void (6 August 2020, $2.99) hands you a glowing idol in your left hand and a gun in your right. The idol’s fluid drains constantly and only refills when you kill enemies, forcing you to sprint through hypnotic, hand drawn corridors without stopping for a single breath.

Free Lives’ Anger Foot (11 July 2024, $19.99, free demo on Steam) shares SUPERHOT’s one hit mortality and improvisational weapon throwing, but runs at full speed to a pounding bass soundtrack as you boot doors into enemies and toss empty guns at their faces.

Why 60 second rooms work

Why instant restart shooters respect your time

In a sprawling open world shooter, dying can cost you five minutes of walking back to the fight. In SUPERHOT, Post Void, MULLET MADJACK and my own 60 second browser arena in Iron Curtain Call, a room takes under a minute and a restart takes half a second.

That tight loop lets the game push your reflexes much harder without ever feeling tedious.

Questions

Questions players ask about games like SUPERHOT and Post Void

What game is most like Post Void on Steam?

MULLET MADJACK ($19.99, free demo on Steam) uses the exact same core hook where your life clock counts down every second and only refills when you kill enemies.

Which games like SUPERHOT and Post Void have a free demo on Steam?

Six games in this guide have a free playable demo on Steam right now: Iron Curtain Call (plus its 60 second browser trial at /play/), MULLET MADJACK, Anger Foot, Severed Steel, Warstride Challenges and ULTRAKILL.

Which games on this list run on macOS and Linux?

Iron Curtain Call (free demo) and SUPERHOT ($24.99) both run natively on Windows, macOS and Linux.

What PC and indie games are coming out in 2027?

More than one page can hold: Steam shows a lot of PC and indie games with a 2027 date, and dates keep moving. What we checked on Steam on 7 November 2026 are the shooters and the Mac action games, in two dated lists: upcoming FPS games and upcoming Mac games. Iron Curtain Call, our own cartoon noir shooter, is due 11 March 2027 on Windows and macOS, and its free demo is on Steam now.

What games release on 11 March 2027?

Among the shooters we checked on Steam on 7 November 2026: Blood of Rations (11 March 2027) and Iron Curtain Call (My game, 11 March 2027). We only checked shooters, so this is not the full set for that day; Steam’s own Coming Soon page has the rest.

What is a good new single player FPS I can play for free right now?

Iron Curtain Call has a free demo on Steam (Mission 1, about 15 to 20 minutes) and a free 60 second browser trial with no download. It is a single player cartoon noir shooter, and it is our game, so weigh that. For other free shooters, our list of free FPS demos on Steam holds the best rated ones.
