Games like ULTRAKILL on PC: movement shooters, style ranks and close range healing on Steam

The short answer

Speed, movement tech and aggressive healing.

Per its Steam page and Wikipedia, Arsi “Hakita” Patala and New Blood Interactive’s ULTRAKILL (in Early Access since 3 September 2020, $29.99 on Steam with a free demo) stands on three pillars: relentless movement (sliding, dashing, wall jumping and a Whiplash grappling hook), a Devil May Cry style grading meter that rewards weapon switching and parries, and a rule where your robot body heals only by showering in fresh blood at point blank range.

No single shooter copies all three, so pick by which pillar you want next. For close range healing and relentless aggression, Iron Curtain Call (my game, full release 11 March 2027, free demo on Steam now) gives you health and ammo when you punch staggered wind up tin robots in a 1930s cartoon war, DOOM Eternal ($29.99) turns Glory Kills and the Meat Hook into your health and armor faucet, and MULLET MADJACK ($19.99, free demo) gives you a ten second life timer refilled by kills. For high speed movement tech and stunts, Turbo Overkill ($19.99, free demo) adds a chainsaw leg slide and grappling hook, Severed Steel ($24.99, free demo) is built around diving, wall running and slow motion stunts, and Roboquest ($24.99, free demo) brings movement shooter speed into a roguelite with robot enemies.

For arcade timers and speedrunning, Neon White ($24.99) turns weapons into discardable movement cards on short courses, Post Void ($2.99) drains your health idol unless you sprint and shoot nonstop, and New Blood’s own DUSK ($19.99) is the retro boomer shooter foundation. Five of the nine games compared below had a free demo on Steam on 8 November 2026: Iron Curtain Call, MULLET MADJACK, Turbo Overkill, Roboquest and Severed Steel, plus ULTRAKILL itself.

The games

One by one, who each shooter is for.

Each entry below explains which part of ULTRAKILL’s loop it matches, what it changes, and whether you can test a free demo on Steam first. All facts were checked on the US Steam store on 8 November 2026.

Iron Curtain Call

My game

Play it if you want ULTRAKILL’s dash, grapple, parry and close range healing loop inside a 1930s rubber hose cartoon campaign, and you want a free demo first.

Iron Curtain Call is my game: a single player cartoon noir first person shooter set in an alternate 1965, year three of World War III. Humanity ran out of soldiers, so the war is fought by wind up tin robots commanded by a customer service AI called the Supreme Chancellor. You play Corporal Punishment, armed with eleven guns and a freeze grenade across twelve chapters and twelve boss fights.

What it shares with ULTRAKILL is the rule that backing away gets you killed: you dash, grapple and punch straight into the tin robot ranks because punching staggered machines bursts them into health and ammunition. In the full game you also parry incoming attacks back at the sender. Instead of hellish corridors and blood, it is drawn like a 1930s cartoon where robots burst into bolts, springs and scrap under painted comic words.

The free demo on Steam is Mission 1, Welcome to Rubbleton (about 15 to 20 minutes, ending with the first boss, Major Disaster), for Windows, macOS and Linux; or play 60 seconds in your browser. The parry is part of the full game on 11 March 2027.

MULLET MADJACK

Play it if you want an arcade FPS where hesitation literally kills you in ten seconds, with a free Steam demo.

HAMMER95’s MULLET MADJACK (released 15 May 2024) sets a simple rule on its Steam page and in Wikipedia: you have ten seconds of dopamine life, and every kill or environmental finisher adds seconds back to the clock. You sprint and kick upward through floors of robotic billionaires inside a 1990s anime broadcast.

For ULTRAKILL players who chase P ranks and love chaining environmental kills at breakneck speed, MULLET MADJACK is one of the fastest matches on Steam.

On Steam at $19.99, for Windows, with a free demo on 8 November 2026. For a deeper look at melee healing loops, see my melee and parrying FPS guide.

DOOM Eternal

Play it if you want the big budget arena shooter whose resource loop and Meat Hook grapple helped define modern aggressive FPS.

id Software’s DOOM Eternal (released 19 March 2020) forces you into every demon’s face: per Wikipedia, Glory Kills restore health, the Flame Belch drops armor and the Chainsaw refills ammo, while two dashes, monkey bars and the Super Shotgun’s Meat Hook keep you airborne across multi tier arenas.

Where ULTRAKILL lets you improvise freeform physics combos and coin ricochets, DOOM Eternal is a tighter tactical puzzle about weapon counters and cooldowns.

On Steam at $29.99, for Windows, with no demo on 8 November 2026.

Turbo Overkill

Play it if you want a full length cyberpunk movement shooter with a chainsaw leg slide, grappling hook and a free demo.

Trigger Happy Interactive and Apogee Entertainment’s Turbo Overkill (released 11 August 2023) gives half metal hero Johnny Turbo a chainsaw built into his lower leg, wall running, double jumps, air dashes and a grappling hook, per its Steam page.

Its arenas are huge vertical playgrounds built for sliding through crowds at high speed, making it one of the closest full campaign movement shooters to ULTRAKILL on Steam.

On Steam at $19.99, for Windows, with a free demo on 8 November 2026.

Roboquest

Play it if you want ULTRAKILL’s fast airborne movement and robot enemies inside a replayable roguelite with a free demo.

RyseUp Studios’ Roboquest (released 7 November 2023) is a fast roguelite FPS playable solo or in two player co op, per Steam and Wikipedia. You play a rebooted Guardian robot dashing, grinding rails, rocket jumping and grappling through scorched canyons full of hostile machines.

Destroyed robots drop healing cells that vanish quickly, which pushes you forward into the fray just like ULTRAKILL’s close range healing.

On Steam at $24.99, for Windows, with a free Windows demo on 8 November 2026. Cel shaded comic art rather than 1930s rubber hose.

Severed Steel

Play it if you want pure acrobatic stunt shooting with wall runs, dives, voxel destruction and a free demo.

Greylock Studio’s Severed Steel (released 17 September 2021) is a single player stunt FPS starring a one armed sharpshooter who never reloads, per Steam: you snatch loaded guns out of enemies’ hands, dive through glass, flip off walls in slow motion and blast holes through voxel floors with an arm cannon.

While you are diving or flipping, enemy fire misses you, turning constant acrobatic motion into your shield.

On Steam at $24.99, for Windows, with a free Windows demo on 8 November 2026.

Neon White

Play it if you love replaying ULTRAKILL levels to shave half a second off your time and climb medal leaderboards.

Angel Matrix and Annapurna Interactive’s Neon White (released 16 June 2022) is a lightning fast first person action platformer set in Heaven, per Steam and Wikipedia. Every weapon is a Soul Card: fire it normally to clear demons, or discard it to trigger a movement burst such as a double jump, dash, fireball dash or stomp.

Stages last seconds rather than minutes, distilling the speedrunning and route optimization side of ULTRAKILL into pure bite sized trials.

Post Void

Play it if you want a three dollar psychedelic sprint where stopping for two seconds means death.

YCJY Games’ Post Void (released 6 August 2020) puts a glowing idol in your left hand that drains continuously until you shoot, slash and sprint through procedurally generated corridors.

It is a tiny, blindingly loud arcade shooter priced at $2.99 on Steam that rewards pure forward reflexes.

On Steam at $2.99, for Windows, with no demo on 8 November 2026.

DUSK

Play it if you want the 1990s retro shooter foundation from ULTRAKILL’s own publisher, with Windows, macOS and Linux builds.

David Szymanski and New Blood Interactive’s DUSK (released 10 December 2018) revived the 1990s shooter with fast strafe jumping, mid air flips, dual sickles that deflect projectiles and three hand crafted episodes, per Steam and Wikipedia.

It uses classic health pickups rather than blood healing, but its speed, level design and New Blood pedigree make it the natural companion piece to ULTRAKILL.

On Steam at $19.99, for Windows, macOS and Linux, with no demo on 8 November 2026.
