The short answer

Few shooters are truly noir. Here are nine.

Going by their own Steam pages, four first person shooters with a noir look or story are out now, and four more are on the way without a date. MOUSE: P.I. For Hire is the big one: a black and white rubber hose detective shooter. Fallen Aces is a hand drawn crime noir in Early Access, SCORCH is a free stealth shooter in a black and white 1940s city, and The Darkness II carries a “graphic noir” art style into a mob story. Iron Curtain Call is ours: its noir is a cartoon one, a mood rather than a case, and its demo is free on Steam.

Still to come, with no release date on Steam on 6 November 2026: NOIRVANA, a high speed noir shooter built on movement, BAD BLOOD: 1926, a Chicago mob story with a free demo, FUTURE NOIR, a detective story in a dystopian future, and The Last Call, a neon noir mix of live action and shooting.

Three of the nine had a free demo on Steam on 6 November 2026: Iron Curtain Call, The Darkness II and BAD BLOOD: 1926. SCORCH is free outright. The Iron Curtain Call demo is Mission 1, and the parry comes with the full game on 11 March 2027.

The games

One by one, who each is for.

Each entry says who the game is for, what it is and how it differs from Iron Curtain Call. The facts under each come from its Steam page on 6 November 2026, and for MOUSE and The Darkness II also from their Wikipedia articles. The last four games have no release date on Steam yet, so treat what they promise as plans.

Iron Curtain Call

Our game

Play it if you want a cartoon noir shooter built for speed, and you want to try it for free first.

It is an alternate 1965, year three of World War III. Humanity ran out of soldiers, so the war is fought by wind up tin robots run by the Supreme Chancellor, a customer service machine that was handed a country. You are Corporal Punishment, a silent soldier delivered to the front like cargo, and Colonel Panic is on the radio: “I’d send backup, but you are the backup.”

We call it cartoon noir because of the tone: a lone, silent soldier, a voice on the radio and a state that runs on forms. We will not oversell it. The look is a 1930s rubber hose cartoon with ink lines, in full color, and there is no detective case to solve. The fighting is close: a punch gives you health, a can opener cracks a robot open for ammo. Robots burst into bolts, springs and scrap; there is no blood.

The free demo is Mission 1, Welcome to Rubbleton: about 15 to 20 minutes, ending with the first boss, Major Disaster. It has no parry; that comes with the full game.

Iron Curtain Call in first person: a white cartoon glove holds a typewriter submachine gun as a grinning steam train marked 6:15 bursts out of a brick tunnel
Chapter 1, Rubbleton: the 6:15 express, in the free demo. A real gameplay frame.

MOUSE: P.I. For Hire

Play it if you want the black and white detective story, with the jazz, the cases and the clues.

Fumi Games’ shooter casts you as Jack Pepper, voiced by Troy Baker: a war hero turned private eye in Mouseburg, a town of mice. Steam calls its black and white rubber hose visuals hand drawn, frame by frame, and promises a noir fueled detective story with corruption, kidnapping and murder on the docket, and an original big band jazz soundtrack.

Wikipedia says it mixes investigative sections, where you find clues and solve puzzles, with arena shootouts. Steam lists wall running, a grappling hook and double jumping, and more than 20 levels in places from dark streets to an opera house.

The nearest game to ours in look and the most complete noir shooter on this page. It had no demo on Steam on 6 November 2026. Our rubber hose guide sets the two side by side.

Fallen Aces

Play it if you want crime noir that is hand drawn and talks like a gangster film, and you are happy to buy into Early Access.

Trey Powell and Jason Bond’s game is set in Switchblade City, where the guardians called the A.C.E.S. are being taken down one by one, and one man with two fists has to find out why. Steam calls it a crime noir FPS that plays out of the 90s and looks out of the comics, with three episodes, fully voiced hand drawn comic cutscenes and hundreds of lines of period gangster dialogue.

You can use stealth, go loud or mix both, with fists, pipes, bats, nail guns and Tommy guns. It is in Early Access, so the story is not finished on Steam.

Its noir is hand drawn comic art in colour, rather than black and white animation. It had no demo on Steam on 6 November 2026.

SCORCH

Play it if you want the old black and white noir film mood, with shadows, and a free game costs you nothing to try.

Accidentally Games’ SCORCH is, in Steam’s words, a noir inspired stealth first person shooter that takes its inspiration from the noir films of the 40s and 50s. You play Morgan Hand, a retired hitman with one last job, in a night wrapped 1940s city, using shadows to hide while hired guns stalk the harbor. A flashlight or a muzzle flash can give you away.

Steam says it is first and foremost a stealth game before it is a shooter, with a monochromatic art style, evidence to collect and an original soundtrack. Its makers describe themselves as a small team of undergraduate game development students, and Steam listed the game as free.

The slowest, quietest game here, and the only one with no price. It had no demo on Steam on 6 November 2026, since the game itself is free.

The Darkness II

Play it if you want a comic book shooter with a crime family story and a grim tone, and a demo to try first.

Digital Extremes’ The Darkness II follows Jackie Estacado, head of a New York crime family, who wields a supernatural force called the Darkness. Steam describes a story of tragedy, modern crime drama and supernatural horror, with a four player co op campaign.

Wikipedia says the team decided on a comic book influenced “graphic noir” art style, because they believed the comic’s high contrast colors had helped its success. It is a noir look in color and a noir mood on a mob story, with horror on top.

A free demo of it was on Steam on 6 November 2026, Windows only. It is the oldest game here and the only one that is mostly supernatural horror.

NOIRVANA

Play it if you want noir at full speed, black and white with red as the only color, and you will wait for it.

Ludus Noctis’ NOIRVANA is, in Steam’s words, a high speed noir FPS where movement is your weapon. You slide, dive, wall run, wall jump and grapple through brutal black and white combat arenas, chain kills to build score and speed, and restore health by staying aggressive. Steam lists pistols, revolvers, shotguns and Tommy guns, special challenges such as Headshots Only and No Damage, and a leaderboard.

It is Windows only on Steam and shows as coming soon, with no release date.

BAD BLOOD: 1926

Play it if you want a 1920s mob story with stealth and a noir graphic novel look, and a demo to try now.

Red Marmoset Studios and Aurora Punks’ BAD BLOOD: 1926 puts a federal agent in Chicago against a mob dabbling in bio organic experiments and mechanical implants. Steam lists stealth mechanics, silent takedowns, gunfights and puzzles, and powers such as super speed and strength that the agent picks up from the experiments.

Steam says its graphics are based on noir graphic novels and 1920s art deco, and describes its demo as a demo for a noir first person shooter set in Chicago. Steam shows the release as to be announced.

It has a free demo for Windows and Mac on Steam, as Iron Curtain Call does, and no price yet.

FUTURE NOIR

Play it if you like a detective story in first person, with some shooting, and do not need a noir look.

The Tierno Company’s FUTURE NOIR is a first person adventure and action game that mixes elements of first person shooters and walking simulators. You play Agent Langley, a detective solving a crime that leads to remote places in a dystopian future, on an Earth in ruins that has had a solar winter for decades.

Its Steam page names a detective, a crime and a story, but describes no black and white or rain soaked look, so we call it noir by premise. It shows as coming soon.

The least shooter here: Steam stresses exploration, adventure, suspense and terror next to the shooting. It had no demo on Steam on 6 November 2026.

The Last Call

Play it if you want a 1980s neon noir revenge film you play, with real actors between the shootouts.

Parable Worlds’ The Last Call is, in Steam’s words, a neon noir full motion video and FPS revenge thriller. A hunted ex agent of the US drug agency blasts through cartel safe houses and nightclubs in the rain soaked underworld of 1980s Seattle, in what Steam calls a playable VHS crime thriller that blends live action storytelling with first person shootouts.

It is Windows only on Steam and shows as coming soon.

The look

What makes an FPS noir?

Wikipedia defines film noir as a Hollywood crime drama that emphasizes cynical attitudes and motivations, and ties the classic 1940s and 1950s films to a low key, black and white visual style. It names the private investigator as a common hero and lists mysteries, detective stories, corruption, organized crime and cynicism among its plots and themes. The games on this page take those pieces in different amounts.

In shooters they turn up as a few things you can check on a Steam page. Black and white or monochrome art: MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, SCORCH and NOIRVANA. A detective or a hitman at the centre: MOUSE, SCORCH and The Darkness II. Crime and corruption in a city: Fallen Aces and the others. Jazz and a voice: Steam lists a big band jazz score for MOUSE, fully voiced cutscenes for Fallen Aces and an original soundtrack for SCORCH. Rain and neon: The Last Call uses both.

Not every game ticks every box, and we do not pretend they do. Iron Curtain Call ticks the fewest, and has its own noir all the same: a cartoon one.

Left out on purpose

Noir games that are not noir shooters

Some noir games did not make the list because they are not first person shooters, or have no Steam page to check. Shadows of Doubt is, in Steam’s words, a detective simulator, and Renoir a story driven puzzle platformer inspired by 1940s film noir. COP BASTARD is a first person shooter about a detective, but Steam describes it as inspired by gritty 90s action movies, not noir. Frenzy Blood is a noir shooter, but VR only. NORM and The Iron Chronicle are on itch.io and have no Steam page, so we did not list them.

If you came for “noir games” in general, those are worth a look too. This guide keeps to shooters.

The cartoon corner

If it is cartoon noir you came for

Two games here are drawn like cartoons: MOUSE: P.I. For Hire in black and white, and Iron Curtain Call in full color. Our rubber hose guide goes deeper on that style, and the cartoon FPS guide covers cel shaded and comic book shooters too, including Fallen Aces and The Darkness II.

Questions

Questions players ask

What is a noir FPS?

A first person shooter that borrows from film noir: crime, corruption and a cynical hero, often a detective or a hitman, usually with a dark, high contrast or black and white look and a jazz or moody score. The games on this page claim some of those on their Steam pages; few claim all of them.

What are the best noir FPS games on PC?

Out now, by their Steam pages: MOUSE: P.I. For Hire for a black and white detective story, Fallen Aces for hand drawn crime noir, SCORCH for stealth in a monochrome 1940s city, and The Darkness II for a graphic noir mob story. Iron Curtain Call is our own cartoon noir. NOIRVANA, BAD BLOOD: 1926, FUTURE NOIR and The Last Call have Steam pages but no release date yet.

Is there a noir cartoon FPS?

Yes. MOUSE: P.I. For Hire is a hand drawn black and white rubber hose detective shooter, and Iron Curtain Call is a rubber hose cartoon in full color that we call cartoon noir. Our rubber hose guide compares them.

Is there a black and white FPS?

Steam describes MOUSE: P.I. For Hire as black and white, SCORCH as monochromatic and NOIRVANA as black and white arenas with red as the only color. MOUSE and SCORCH are out now; NOIRVANA has no date.

Which noir FPS games have a free demo?

On 6 November 2026: Iron Curtain Call, with a free demo on Steam that is Mission 1, about 15 to 20 minutes, without the parry (it comes with the full game), The Darkness II, and BAD BLOOD: 1926, which has no release date yet. SCORCH is a free game. Our list of free FPS demos has more.

Are there noir games that are not shooters?

Yes, many. Steam lists Shadows of Doubt as a detective simulator, for example. This guide keeps to first person shooters, and the games here are single player on Steam, and The Darkness II adds a four player co op mode.
