How Whale Development Studios handles the details it uses to write to creators, curators and the press about its games, and the anonymous counts behind the free demo's Global War Effort.

Who we are

What we hold

• your name or the name of your channel, site or outlet
• the public business email address you list, and the page where we found it (for example your YouTube About page, your website, or a public directory of creators and curators)
• the language you publish in, the size of your audience as your public page shows it, and whether you replied to us

Why

To tell people who cover games about our games, one person at a time. We rely on our legitimate interest in introducing a game to people who write, stream or make videos about games, weighed against yours. You can object at any time and we will stop.

How long

As long as we might write to you about our games. If you ask us to stop, we keep only your email address on a do not contact list, so that we never write to you again.

Sharing

We do not sell, rent or share your details. Our mail is sent and stored with Zoho Mail in the EU.

Your choices

• reply stop to any mail from us and we take you off our list the same day
• write to contact@whaledevstudios.com to see, correct or delete what we hold about you
• if you live in the EU or the UK, you may also complain to your data protection authority

The demo's Global War Effort

The free demo of Iron Curtain Call counts the robots its players scrap, country by country, for the board in the demo's main menu and on ironcurtaincall.com/war-effort. For that:

• the game sends an anonymous install id (a random code your copy of the game makes up for itself) and how many robots you scrapped, with the game's version, platform and language
• our server works out your country from your connection. It never stores your IP address: only a keyed hash of it that changes every day, used to stop one network from flooding the board
• each report is deleted after 45 days; the country totals on the board keep their robots
• you can switch it off in the game: SETTINGS → HUD → GLOBAL WAR EFFORT
