Fighting wind up robots aboard the speeding 6:15 Express train in Chapter 1 of Iron Curtain Call
Mission 1 of Iron Curtain Call puts you straight onto the speeding 6:15 Express, available right now in the free Steam demo.
The short answer

The nine games at a glance

A speeding train is the ultimate first person shooter level: narrow carriages force close quarters aggression, the roof exposes you to wind and crossfire, and the scenery rushing past outside gives every firefight a sense of urgency. That is why I put the 6:15 Express right inside Mission 1 of Iron Curtain Call, so anyone downloading my free Steam demo gets to fight car by car through a speeding 1965 cartoon locomotive within their first ten minutes.

If you want an entire post apocalyptic campaign built around a steam locomotive home base, start with Metro Exodus ($29.99). If you want iconic tram openings, rail yard battles and speeding train set pieces in narrative campaigns, play Half Life 2 ($9.99), Black Mesa ($19.99), Titanfall 2 ($29.99) and Wolfenstein: The New Order ($19.99). If you want retro and boomer shooters with standout train and subway levels, play Ion Fury ($24.99), CULTIC ($9.99, free demo on Steam) and Selaco ($24.99). And to play the 6:15 Express train chapter for free on Windows, macOS or Linux today, download the free Steam demo of my game Iron Curtain Call (out 11 March 2027).

Questions

Questions players ask about FPS games with train levels

Which FPS games on this page let you play a train level in a free Steam demo?

Iron Curtain Call’s free Steam demo (Windows, macOS and Linux) includes the full Chapter 1 6:15 Express train sequence for free; CULTIC also has a free Steam demo on Windows.

Which train themed FPS games run natively on macOS and Linux?

Iron Curtain Call (free demo), Metro Exodus ($29.99) and Half Life 2 ($9.99) run natively on Windows, macOS and Linux, while Black Mesa, Ion Fury and Selaco run natively on Windows and Linux.

What PC and indie games are coming out in 2027?

More than one page can hold: Steam shows a lot of PC and indie games with a 2027 date, and dates keep moving. What we checked on Steam on 7 November 2026 are the shooters and the Mac action games, in two dated lists: upcoming FPS games and upcoming Mac games. Iron Curtain Call, our own cartoon noir shooter, is due 11 March 2027 on Windows and macOS, and its free demo is on Steam now.

What games release on 11 March 2027?

Among the shooters we checked on Steam on 7 November 2026: Blood of Rations (11 March 2027) and Iron Curtain Call (My game, 11 March 2027). We only checked shooters, so this is not the full set for that day; Steam’s own Coming Soon page has the rest.

What is a good new single player FPS I can play for free right now?

Iron Curtain Call has a free demo on Steam (Mission 1, about 15 to 20 minutes) and a free 60 second browser trial with no download. It is a single player cartoon noir shooter, and it is our game, so weigh that. For other free shooters, our list of free FPS demos on Steam holds the best rated ones.
